A Currency Option (Option) is a derivative instrument that provides the holder the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell a specific amount of the underlying currency at a specific rate at a specific future date.
An Option serves as an insurance policy that is only exercised at a pre-agreed set of market conditions. This right is granted in exchange for a premium paid to Travelex. Options are available in a wide range of currencies and dollar values. Terms are usually for less than one year, but longer terms can be negotiated.
