Ian Meakins joined Travelex as Chief Executive Officer in January 2007 and is a member of the Group Board and chair of the Executive Committee. Prior to this, Mr Meakins was Chief Executive Officer of Alliance UniChem plc until its merger with Boots in July 2006 and he was previously President, European Major Markets and Global Supply for Diageo plc.
He has served as a non-executive director of MMO2 plc and London International Group plc and is non-executive Chairman of Trader Media Group. Earlier in his career he founded a strategic management consultancy after starting at Procter and Gamble.
David Sear joined Travelex in March 2006 as Divisional Managing Director Outsourcing. Mr. Sear is responsible for Travelex’s global Outsourcing operations which include our Currency Services, Wholesale Banknote, Travelex Insurance Services, Pre-Paid Card, Travellers Cheque and Latitude businesses.
He joined Travelex from Voca Ltd (previously BACS), a company at the centre of the UK’s banking industry where he was most recently Commercial Director and Chief Marketing Officer. Prior to this he was Chief Operating Officer at WorldPay Group plc, part of RBS. Mr Sear ran the company’s operations as it established its position as a major global player in the adoption and development of e-Commerce. He was also responsible for WorldPay’s drive to take e-Commerce into new and emerging markets worldwide. Mr Sear also spent seven years as European Managing Director at Equifax Cheque Services the world’s largest cheque guarantee company. Prior to that he worked with WH Smith Group in retail operations for five years.
John Martin joined Travelex in March 2006 as the Chief Financial Officer of the Group. Previously he worked for Hays plc, which he joined in 2000 as Group Financial Controller. He was appointed Group Finance Director of Hays plc in 2003 at the start of the process to transform that business from a diverse business services group into a focused specialist recruitment business. Prior to that he was Group Controller of the Stationery Office Group Ltd, a private equity backed company established to acquire HMSO on its privatisation in 1996, until its demerger into four independent businesses in 1999. He is a Chartered Accountant and worked for Arthur Andersen from 1987 to 1996 in audit, financial consulting and corporate finance.
Peter Burridge joined Travelex in May 2006 as Divisional Managing Director of Travelex’s Commercial Foreign Exchange (’CFX’) business. He has total responsibility over the global CFX business, which specialises in Foreign Exchange & Payment solutions for Corporates, Financial Institutions and Individuals.
Coming from a distinguished background in software sales, Mr Burridge has extensive experience in the area of Sales Leadership and Executive Management. Prior to joining Travelex, he was President and General Manager of Asia-Pacific and Japan at Siebel Systems. This followed a long and established career at Oracle, where he held a number of senior roles over 15 years, culminating as Senior Vice President of Financial Services, Communications and Public Sector Sales across Asia-Pacific.
Anthony Wagerman is Divisional Managing Director Retail. He has full responsibility for Travelex’s global retail foreign exchange network of over 700 shops and his remit includes developing divisional strategy and driving Retail performance.
Prior to this, he was Head of Group Marketing & Communications. He was responsible for corporate communications, media relations, advertising and brand identity as well as Travelex’s sponsorship properties Before joining Travelex, Mr Wagerman held Communications and Marketing posts in a variety of companies, including Heron Corporation and a spell at Arthur D Little Management Consultants.
Anthony has a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry & Business Studies, and an MBA specialising in Marketing.
Ann Colley was appointed to this role in December 2001, combining her previous Communications and Programmes Management responsibilities, with the new challenge of leading the HR agenda.
Mrs Colley joined Thomas Cook in May 1989 as a Project Manager in Information Technology. Following 2 years in IT, she worked as Business Systems Manager within Business Travel and Financial Services, acquiring valuable exposure to change management.
In November 1996 Mrs Colley was appointed Head of Programmes Management, with a remit to develop a centre of excellence for project management within Financial Services. The success of this programme led to an expansion of her responsibilities, and from mid 1998 to end 1999, Mrs Colley, and her team, worked on assignments with a number of business units across Thomas Cook.
Prior to joining Thomas Cook Ann worked for Kleinwort Benson merchant bank in a number of Information Technology roles.
James Birch was appointed General Counsel of Travelex in March 2002. Previous to this he held various roles at Warner Bros., including most latterly as Senior Vice President of Business Affairs & General Counsel for Warner Bros. International Theatres. Prior to this, Mr Birch worked, between 1993 and 1996, in both a legal and business role at Rio Tinto Plc. Mr Birch’s career started as a solicitor with Freshfields, where he worked from 1988 to 1993.
Mr Birch has a degree in Economics from the University of Manchester, following which he studied at Chancery Lane Law School in London. He qualified as a solicitor in 1990.
Neville Hall joined Travelex in July 2007 as Group Compliance and Regulation Director. He has responsibility for directing Travelex’s group strategy and approach with regard to compliance, anti-money laundering and fulfilment of all regulatory requirements for the countries in which it operates.
Mr Hall joined Travelex from Renaissance Capital, where he was Global Head of Compliance, Managing Director. Prior to this, he was Head of Equities & Investment Banking Compliance, EMEA at UBS. He has also worked for regulators and governments, including the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, and The Securities Association (now the FSA).
Neville has a degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford.
